I've been shopping online since the early 1990s. Finding an item could literally take hours. Where was ShopWiki when I needed it?
ShopWiki is here now.

thrifty!
At this point, many of us are realizing that the only employer we'll be able to trust is ourselves. Entrepreneurs go into business for themselves, assuming the risks but also organizing, managing, and providing the creativity for the business. Today, entrepreneurship may be the ONLY way to go.
The Kauffman Foundation is helping entrepreneurs by continuing to study entrepreneurship, providing training and education (not only for entrepreneurs but also for disadvantaged youth), and staying on top of the latest technologies and trends. Furthermore, by teaching college entrepreneurship (showing universities how to teach their students, as well as entrepreneurial procedures for the universities themselves), and by offering additional minority entrepreneurship (this includes women and underserved populations), the Kauffman Foundation not only assists those who want to learn but also reaches its key objectives.
Ewing Kauffman, born in 1916, worked as a salesman for a pharmaceutical company after his stint in the Navy. An entrepreneur, he opened a pharmaceutical business in his home basement. He bought the Royals, which he made a winning baseball team; and he created Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation for other entrepreneurs. When he finally sold it to Merrill Dow, the basement business had grown to a "globally diversified health care giant."
Because the Kauffman Foundation provides grants towards entrepreneur initiatives as needed (guidelines here), United States programs - especially those in Ewing Kauffman's Kansas City - entrepreneurship (and being an employer YOU can trust!) doesn't have to be out of reach.

Cheaperthanhotels.co.uk may be the way to go, in more ways than one. They recommended France attractions such as Haute Couture, wineries, and museums to me. (For more info see http://www.francethisway.com/
regions.php) Burgundy offers a rich history and, of course, the wine. Corsica has some of the best beaches on the Mediterranean. The Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region has a gorgeous countryside (photo of the breathtaking Gorges du Verdon - copyright) and the famous, sophisticated Cote d'Azur. Paris is the kind of place I'd want to shop with my sister-in-law or with Lara; they would appreciate the little cafes and boutiques. (If we needed history, there's Pere Lachaise cemetery, where Jim Morrison is buried.)
I clicked the link to France hotels on Cheaperthanhotels.co.uk -
with today's special only 35€!
I've been reading history while in this dark mood, and I'd also like to see Germany. Berlin attractions may include Pergamon Museum, Brandenburge Gates, and Schloss Charlottenburg (for more info see http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-27
berlin_things_to_do-i, but I'd really like to see some of the area I've read about in the past few weeks. A Holocaust Memorial opened sixty years after World War II, in the heart of Berlin. If that is too emotional, Literaturhandlung is the book store for all things Jewish.
So I took a look at Berlin hotels on Cheaperthanhotels.co.uk, and saw that today's special is only 59€!
Germany attractions include Beer Festivals (I could take my brother...), or Neuschwanstein Castle (it looks like something out of a fantasy story!). The Romantic Road, cruises along the Roman Highway and takes travelers through some of the best historical German sites and cozy towns that Germany has to offer visitors. Whatever mood strikes you, you can find something to whet it or to appease it, when you use Cheaperthanhotels.co.uk to plan your travel.
From what I've seen in books and online, Australia is the kind of place I'd want to visit. Not only could I reconnect with the people I've met, but I could enjoy the country/continent for its natural beauty. That's where help from Cheaperthanhotels.com's Australia page comes in!
CheaperThanHotels.com.au guarantees the lowest rates. You know that I don't write about companies without looking into them. The owner is well-published in the travel business, reviewing resorts and discussing vacationing in various areas; the US affiliates have satisfactory records with the Better Business Bureau. CheaperThanHotels.com.au lists hotels with one star ratings (budget/inexpensive hotels - not luxurious) to those with five-star ratings (the most luxurious, with attractions like private golf courses, to enhance your stay); this accommodates every traveler.
Three of the pages on the site that caught my eye were the ones for Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.
( Read more about CheaperthanHotels.com.au )The capital of Queensland, Brisbane (briz´-bәn) was the infamous penal colony back in 1824. It's a short flight from Melbourne and an hour from Sydney. It has been the host of the the 1988 World's Fair, as well as the 1982 Commonwealth Games and the 2001 Goodwill Games. Hotels in Brisbane include such treasures as the Conrad Treasury Hotel Brisbane, which has won awards for its luxurious accommodations, its Marco Polo restaurant, and its fine service.
Finally, Sydney (sid´-nē), on Australia's south-east coast, is the country's financial center - but don't let the business side fool vacationers! Its host duties have included, but are not limited to, the 1938 British Empire Games, the 2000 Summer Olympics and the 2003 Rugby World Cup. It is also known for its beaches; Hotels in Sydney lists the Novotel Brighton Beach Sydney looks over beautiful Botany Bay Novotel Brighton Beach (and, indeed, includes an overhead walkway connecting the complex to the beach). For tourists looking for something a little more formal, Hotels in Sydney can help guests find accommodations near the Sydney Opera House (for example, The Four Seasons Sydney).
When Blogvertise sent me the link to Hotels in Edinburgh, through Cheaper than Hotels (a UK web site), I spent a lot of time at the site. Affiliated with some other travel groups in the United States, they are given a satisfactory report by the Better Business Bureau. Their Maryland, USA address and phone number give me a feeling of security when doing business with them.
(If you're thinking about visiting the UK, and you're on this site, and you're not from the UK, I suggest opening another window or tab with a currency converter. You'll see that the prices on are close to those in United States suburban areas, and that they RIVAL our big city hotel prices!)
( Read more about the benefits of this great site! )
I began with the languages in which the site is offered, because I appreciate that the other people in the hotel may be from regions all over the globe. CheaperthanHotels.co.UK caters to visitors from all over the world; by clicking our country's flag, we have the options to browse in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Chinese, and Polish were the flags I could identify!
Next was the regions I could stay. On the Edinburg page, the link I was offered, I saw that they offer hotel choices within, among other areas, the city itself, Edinburgh Castle, the Old Town District, and the outskirts of town. Two of these choices caught my eye immediately.
The Old Town District interested me, so I clicked around and, for its Last Minute Deals, I found the four-star Scottish Apartments Grassmarket. The Grassmarket, five minutes southwest of Edinburgh castle, was, hundreds of years ago,one of Edinburgh main markets as well as the setting for public executions. I'd love to compare its history to, say, my past visits to Salem, Massachusetts!) The other area in Scotland I'd love to see is Bonnyrigg Hotel, in the outskirts. Bonnyrigg may be less than ten miles from Scotland's capital of Edinburgh, but its population is under 15,000 - and I thought my home town, with more than thrice as many people, is small! Bonnyrigg's attractions include its proximity to Dalhousie Castle and, more importantly to me, its location near but away from the Capital. (I hate crowds. I'd rather vacation a bit away from the main attractions!) Over a dozen night clubs are within ten miles, but rest can be found away from it all.
Looking further, I looked at the Hotels in Cardiff, where I could stay if I wanted to view the gorgeous castles as well as the thatched cottages I've read about. The idea of staying at Hotels in Glasgow would also be tempting to anyone who read the James Herriott books; sometimes he dreams of his home between veterinary calls.
With one-stop shopping, you can also rent a car for use during your stay, via the site's Cheaper than Cars (links on most of the pages, for your convenience). One of the draws of the United Kingdom, I've always felt, is that I speak the language. I don't have an affinity for languages, but I love to travel. The more I looked at the photographs of the areas surrounding the hotels on CheaperthanHotels.co.UK, the more I remembered what I read about James Herriott and his love of his Yorkshire (Scotland). And, as I looked, I remembered the music that had drawn me to this area of the world, decades ago. Ever since I started listening to NWoBHM bands like Def Leppard, and then punk, and then realized that the music came from the UK (even when the bands were based in the USA), I've wanted to go. (There's also the draw of handsome Irishmen; if I had to choose my favorite "type" of guy, OH, how it would be the Irish.)
I just signed up for Blogvertise. I love to write, and there are days that I'm just not up to it - even when I have the urge to write. Perhaps the "assignments" in Blogvertise will kickstart my motivation again?
Blogvertise assigns writing tasks for its advertisers. I'm going to feel like I'm back in Mr. Ortoleva's class in high school (Advanced Creative Writing) but, I've got to say, those assignments really made my brain work. Furthermore, a heavily tattooed woman in the corporate(ish) world who blogs about EVERYTHING - from books to the Internet to my parents to my job - can probably offer something fresh and new to advertisers.
This time last year, I spent about five hours a day on every post I wrote, much of it being research (I hate giving out incorrect information and I'd track down just about every single word). It would sound grueling to someone who doesn't like to write but, for those of us who LOVE words, it's exciting and educational and just plain fun.
I'm hoping that, by using Blogvertise, I'll have fun while writing - and I can help out their advertisers - I am a pretty good writer! - as I rid myself of this (prescription) medication-induced lethargy.
